Wootton Bassett is local town, with various shops, public houses, bakery and near the Marsh Farm hotel. Repatriation of service men and women from RAF Lyneham has taken place here. There is a market day Wednesday and farmers markets are held monthly. This is very near the M4 junction 16 which is 5 miles from Battle Lake Farm.
Lydiard Park is a beautiful historic parkland, on the western edge of swindon. The Palladian house, walled garden and parkland holds special events and the changing nature of seasons has something for everyone. Once the ancestral home of the viscounts Bolingbroke, there is a wealth of history. Tours around the re-stored state rooms of Lydiard house can be arranged.
